How we will condense the class below into one day is still in the planning stages - but it will happen! The class will
be at the Fort Bragg Grange.
A ten week course, 6:30 - 8:30 Thursday evenings, at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. We will look at four herbs
in each class, focusing on the organ systems (Digestive, Respiratory, etc.) and native and naturalized herbs commonly used
as medicine for disorders.
Week One: An overview of the plants growing in our county and how they have been used as medicine traditionally.
Week Two: How We Know Plants: an overview of methods of study from Galen to Shamanism.
Week Three: The Digestive System: Fennel, Ginger, Berry Leaves and Bitters.
Week Four: The Respiratory System: Yarrow, Thyme, Yerba Santa and Nettle.
Week Five: The Cardiovascular System: Cayenne, Gotu Kola, Garlic and Hawthorne.
Week Six: The Immune System: Calendula, Cleavers, Echinacea and Astragalus.
Week Seven: The Genito-Urinary System: Vitex-Chasteberry, Eupatorium, Yarrow, Horsetail.
Week Eight: The Muscular-Skeletal System: White Oak Bark, Arnica, Oatstraw and Alfalfa.
Week Nine: The Nervous System: St. Johnswort, Melissa, Motherwort and California Poppy.
Week Ten: Adaptogens and Amphoterics: The Wonderful and Multitasking Herbs.
